About
La Bodega Fitness & Fight Club is a *mixed martial arts gym in Prior Lake, Minnesota*, teaching wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing, and Muay Thai kickboxing to kids and adults alike. It has been open roughly *five years* and is built around the idea that anybody in the family should be able to walk in and train, whether they want a hard workout or a real fight camp.
The gym began in a basement. Co-owner Mitch White's business partner had built an MMA setup in his own, invited people over to train, and asked Mitch to coach his eight-year-old son — which snowballed into a *kids' MMA class of about 20* running out of the basement twice a week. The partners took what was working there and built the current gym around it at 16861 Welcome Ave SE.
That origin still shapes the schedule: a *kids' class frequently runs at the same time as an adult class*, so a parent and child can train on a single trip rather than two.
What to expect
The core program is *mixed martial arts across four disciplines* — wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing, and Muay Thai kickboxing — trainable as a complete game or individually. Around them sit a fitness class, self-defense, women's kickboxing, and one-on-one personal training, so the membership works for general fitness as well as competition.
Every track is split into *beginner and advanced*, on both the kids' and adult sides, so placement follows experience rather than age alone. A six-year-old or a brand-new adult starts in the beginner class; anyone older or more experienced moves up.
Kids' classes start at *age 6*: Kid's MMA on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:45 PM, Kid's Striking on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM, and Advanced Kids + Teens for *ages 12+* on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:45 PM.
Highlights
The coaching is more credentialed than the gym's size suggests. *Caleb Truax*, the 2017 IBF super middleweight world champion, runs boxing sessions on *Thursdays at 5:00 PM*. Co-owner *Mitch White* is a professional MMA fighter with a 3-1 pro record and 30-plus amateur bouts, and is a certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist.
Members describe a *team-first, friendly room* where most people know each other and the culture is explicitly cooperative — as Mitch puts it, nobody is trying to prove who is better, they're trying to help each other get better. He acknowledges fight gyms read as intimidating from the outside, which is why the *free trial class* exists.
Pricing
Monthly memberships run *$100 to $180 per month*, depending on how often you train and what you want to do. Mitch places that honestly: expensive next to a big-box gym like Anytime Fitness, but *competitive and cheaper than most mixed martial arts gyms*.
There are *no signup fees, no long-term contracts, and cancellation anytime*, plus a free trial class before committing. The gym also runs a refer-a-friend offer worth 50% off.
Good to know
The gym is at *16861 Welcome Ave SE in Prior Lake*, and the doors are open *6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday*, 9:00 AM to noon on Saturday, and closed Sunday — note that class times sit inside those hours rather than filling them, so check the schedule before driving over.
*Kid's Striking requires gear*: boxing gloves, shin guards, and a mouth guard. The other kids' classes and the adult beginner classes don't ask newcomers to arrive with equipment.
Booking, memberships, and gym communications moved to *Zen Planner* as of February 2026. The fastest way in is the free class form on the website, or a direct call or email to the gym.
